Consultative Cardiology

We evaluate patients who may have symptoms including:

  •  Chest pain or discomfort
  •  Shortness of breath
  •  Palpitations, irregular heartbeats or irregular heart rhythms
  •  Dizziness/light-headedness
  •  Leg swelling

We also see patients who may be referred for:

  •  An abnormal electrocardiogram
  •  Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  •  High cholesterol
  •  History of a stroke or fainting with no clear cause
  •  Family history of cardiac conditions
  •  Cardiac clearance for surgery if needed.

Furthermore, we will follow up with patients in our office who have been seen by our team at RWJ University Hospital Somerset and welcome anyone who has known cardiac conditions looking to transfer their care. 

Cardiac Testing

We perform certain cardiac tests in our office and also at RWJ University Hospital (Somerset) based on your symptoms and conditions.

All new patients get an electrocardiogram (ECG) that assesses the electrical activity of the heart. Depending on your symptoms and medications, we will decide how often an ECG is needed.


Cardiac noninvasive tests that we perform in our office include:
  • Exercise treadmill testing
  • Nuclear stress testing
  • Echocardiograms
  • Carotid ultrasound
  • Peripheral venous and arterial ultrasounds
  • Ankle brachial index testing
  • Placements of Holter or event monitors

Additional tests that we may order which are done at RWJ University Hospital Somerset Hospital include:

  • Coronary Calcium CT scans or coronary CT angiograms
  • PYP scans
  • Cardiac MRI (done at RWJ University Hospital New
    Brunswick)

Procedures

Procedures that we perform at RWJ University Hospital Somerset Hospital include:

  • Transesophageal echocardiograms with or without electrical cardioversions
  • Loop recorder placements
  •  Cardiac Catheterizations
